Many struggle to make it to the end of their first year while others end up shutting down long before players have had their fill. Games like WoW and Final Fantasy XI seem destined to keep going forever, but the average MMORPG game is not nearly as lucky. Unfortunately, like any investment, there is a risk involved. That may sound like hell to casual gamers, but to MMO players, it's all part of the fun.
